O knihe:

This book describes the emerging area of catalytic reaction synthesis, which is the use of microkinetic analysis to elucidate the catalytic surface chemistry of a variety of reactions. Seven catalytic systems, including metals, oxides, acids, and zeolites, are discussed as examples. The authors propose a bold, new approach to catalytic kinetics. Instead of starting with the catalytic reactor and obtaining kinetic equations from the data, these authors start with the rate constants of the elementary steps and obtain the reaction rate and selectivity as well as information on each step. They show how experimental data from diverse sources can be consolidated to form a quantitative description of the essential chemistry taking place on the catalyst surface. Thus, they provide a basis for speculations about the synthesis of new catalytic materials and about reaction conditions. This book is an important contribution to the development of new and improved catalysts and catalytic processes
