This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Fundamental Approaches to Software Engineering, FASE 2006, held in Vienna, Austria in March 2006 as part of ETAPS. The 27 revised full papers, 2 tool papers presented together with 2 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 166 submissions.
