After time out for bad behaviour, Felix Castor has reluctantly returned to exorcism; but his friend Rafi is still possessed, the succubus Juliet still technically has a contract on him, and he's still - let's not beat around the bush - dirt poor. The more things change...
Doing some consulting for the local constabulary helps pay the bills, but what Castor needs is a big, private job to really fill the hole in his overdraft. That's what he needs. What he gets, good fortune and Castor not being on speaking terms, is a bizarre 'missing ghost' case that rapidly spirals out of control and pitches him into conflict with fellow exorcists, devil worshippers, a militant arm of the Catholic Church and of course – the local constabulary.
Because let's face it: when Satanists, sacrifice farms, stolen spirits and possessed churches all appear on the same police report, can the name 'Felix Castor' be far behind...?
