"When the 5th and the 6th Ministerial Conference of the WTO failed spectacularly in 2003 and 2005 respectively, because players like the EU and the US did not come to terms with a group of still developing, but nevertheless powerful countries like Brazil, China, and South Africa, the Doha-round virtually came to an end, thus fundamentally challenging the institutional framework of global trade that has developed since 1947 and 1995, respectively.
